  • Short Bio / Excerpt:

Sadie Kaye is an acclaimed British-Hong Kong television and radio presenter, filmmaker, writer, actress, and prominent mental health advocate. Raised in Sai Kung, Hong Kong, she developed a sharp, comedic voice early in life before moving to the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Murray Edwards College at Cambridge University, where she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1998. This mix of rigorous academic foundation and a natural flair for eccentric, character-driven performance paved the way for her multi-decade career across television, radio, and independent film.

Kaye initially built her professional reputation in London's television industry, working as a children's TV presenter for major networks including Disney Channel, ITV, and TVB. Her creative versatility quickly led her into the world of alternative comedy. She devised, co-wrote, and performed in a variety of comedy sketch shows for high-profile UK and international broadcasters, including Channel 4, E4, BBC3, MTV, and Comedy Central. During this time, she also began creating original factual content, producing and hosting the interactive television series Dinner Party TV for ETV and Channel 4.

Over the past decade, Kaye has focused much of her creative energy back in Hong Kong, becoming a staple voice on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 3. She is widely recognized for her hit weekly humor column, Sharp Pains, broadcast on The 123 Show, which has earned international accolades including a nomination at the New York Festivals Radio Awards. Beyond radio broadcasting, she has built an extensive portfolio as a print humorist and literary writer, contributing columns, rants, reviews, and creative writing to the South China Morning Post, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, and the Hooghly Review. She also authored the children’s book The Wishing Machine and serves as the Art Editor for The Apostrophe.

In addition to her writing, Kaye is an accomplished independent filmmaker and producer working with Contro Vento Films. She has produced, directed, and presented short documentaries and feature-length films featured on global networks like Sky, Discovery, and France 3. Her notable screen credits include the documentary Sailing Miss Sadie and her work as a narrative producer. She co-produced the psychological feature film Transference: A Love Story (2020) and later joined Contro Vento's creative team to produce the drama To Love A Narcissist (2025).

Deeply informed by her personal experiences with bipolar disorder and ADHD, Kaye is a dedicated mental health advocate who uses media to destigmatize neurodiversity. She founded the non-profit organizations Bipolar Hong Kong and Mental Ideas, and she serves as an official ambassador for Mind HK. Her advocacy directly overlaps with her creative projects, notably her highly acclaimed RTHK audio documentaries The Bipolar Express and the Mental Ideas Podcast, both of which received global recognition and awards from the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB). Alongside her mental health initiatives, she remains active in community charity work, including launching the food-waste reduction project Home Kong Kitchen to support the city's homeless population.
